The PhD program involves independent, guided research evaluated exclusively through a thesis, which may incorporate creative elements, with external assessment. This degree features a customized research project established through agreement between the student, advisor, department head, and the Graduate Research School board. Research can be conducted within any university department. The program demands creation and execution of a thorough research strategy, grounded in extensive literature review and addressing existing gaps or emerging theoretical questions. To be accepted an applicant must demonstrate that they have sufficient background and experience in independent supervised research to successfully complete a PhD The normal requirement is for a bachelors degree with at least upper second class honours in an appropriate discipline However applications are also considered from 1 graduates of this University or equivalent who can satisfy the Board that they have had adequate research preparation since graduation
