The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program certifies the completion of advanced research work. This qualification demands an innovative and meaningful advancement in a chosen field of study. Candidates must dedicate at least three years to full-time research and produce a comprehensive thesis. Children's Cancer Institute (CCI) operates as an autonomous medical research facility partnered with UNSW. Serving as the parent organization for the UNSW Centre for Childhood Cancer Research, CCI oversees about 50% of postgraduate students in the Paediatrics division of the School of Women's and Children's Health. The institute delivers exceptional scholarly input to pediatric oncology research at UNSW. The Council may confer the Doctor of Philosophy degree upon recommendation from the relevant faculty's Research Committee (referred to as the Committee) to researchers demonstrating groundbreaking contributions to their discipline.
