The School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences (BEES) provides several Honours programs, including one focused on Climate Science. The Climate Science Honours program immerses undergraduates in research and projects related to climate dynamics, global climate change, and weather extremes. Participants complete a guided research project that emphasizes scientific methodology, specialized techniques, analytical reasoning, and effective communication through written reports and presentations. This program adopts a learning approach where students embrace their 'researcher identity' to cultivate these competencies and advanced subject-matter expertise with growing autonomy. Spanning three sessions, the curriculum features a Research Proposal (potentially incorporating literature reviews and risk assessment) alongside a major independent Research Project, closely mentored by BEES faculty. These elements are supplemented by structured seminars and workshops that enhance graduate skills (scientific writing, risk evaluation, ethics, and career growth) as well as School (and Institute/Center) seminar series.
