This specialization in Renewable Energy Engineering covers various sustainable energy technologies and their applications. Students will explore heat and electricity production through solar thermal systems, photovoltaics, wind turbines, biomass, along with key aspects of solar architecture and energy-efficient building and appliance design. Given the interdisciplinary nature of renewable energy projects, professionals in this field often need comprehensive engineering knowledge or collaborate with specialists from other disciplines. Consequently, RE engineers benefit from understanding multiple engineering fields. A distinctive aspect of this program allows students to choose specialized 'Strand elective' courses starting in their second year, focusing on one of three concentrations: Humanitarian Engineering, Low Energy Systems, or Renewable Energy Systems. This approach provides a strong foundation in core engineering principles while enabling focused study paths.
