The Bachelor of Arts and Social Sciences (Honours) is a 48-unit advanced undergraduate program designed for high-achieving students, equivalent to one year of full-time study. This degree builds upon an undergraduate pass degree in Arts, International Studies, or Social Research and Policy. Students typically pursue honours within their major field from their previous degree. The program emphasizes enhancing analytical and research capabilities, expanding subject knowledge, and applying discipline-specific methodologies.
The European Studies Honours program requires completing 48 units (one year full-time or two years part-time).
This program combines seminar participation with a research project or thesis. It includes 18 units of coursework and 30 units dedicated to the thesis project. The thesis represents an extended research endeavor, typically spanning 15,000 to 20,000 words in English.
Coursework options may be selected from either the School of Humanities and Languages or the School of Social Sciences, depending on the thesis focus, prior coursework, and course availability.
Students must obtain approval from both their Honours supervisor and the European Studies convenor before enrolling in coursework. Approval considerations include the thesis topic, relevant academic background, and course capacity constraints.
