The Bachelor of Arts honours year serves as both preparation for postgraduate studies and a culmination of undergraduate education. This program can represent the pinnacle of your formal learning, broadening your intellectual horizons while refining your research capabilities, analytical thinking, and communication methods. It also helps cultivate the personal and professional competencies required to successfully complete a research project. This course may be appropriate for undergraduate students with a single major. Additionally, honours can initiate a career path toward academia or professional research. The honours curriculum includes seminar courses and work on a concise thesis involving an independent research project, guided by a faculty supervisor specializing in your research area. The European Studies honours program comprises two seminars and a research thesis. Similar to the undergraduate European Studies major, all coursework and the thesis are conducted in English. Nevertheless, we recommend that students with proficiency in European or other relevant languages incorporate sources in those languages for their thesis research. Prospective honours students must maintain a 70 percent average or higher in their major. Students considering honours are advised to leverage their European language skills and explore related units in appropriate language disciplines.
