The Bachelor of Arts and Social Sciences (Honours) is a 48-unit advanced undergraduate program designed for high-achieving students, equivalent to one year of full-time study. This degree builds upon an undergraduate pass degree in Arts, International Studies, or Social Research and Policy. Students typically pursue honours within their chosen major from their previous degree. The program emphasizes enhancing analytical and research abilities, expanding subject knowledge, and applying discipline-specific methodologies.
The Creative Writing honours stream involves completing 48 units, which can be done over one year full-time or two years part-time.
The honours curriculum includes seminar participation and either a research project or thesis. It comprises 18 units of coursework and 30 units dedicated to a thesis or practical project. Students may choose between conducting original research culminating in a 15,000-word thesis or undertaking a year-long research project involving both practical work and a 7,000-10,000 word written component.
