UNE offers a flexible approach to nursing education in Australia, combining online and on-campus learning options. By enrolling in our Bachelor of Nursing program, you'll gain the essential knowledge and practical skills needed to excel in various clinical environments and adapt to the changing landscape of healthcare.
Our curriculum is designed for today's dynamic healthcare sector, providing mobility across diverse career paths and specialties. Through hands-on training and cutting-edge teaching methods, UNE's nursing program builds competency in key areas including patient communication, bioethics, biological sciences, health promotion, and nursing leadership.
Please note: This nursing program is currently undergoing accreditation review by ANMAC and NMBA. While not yet approved for professional registration under National Law Section 53a, we anticipate accreditation results by October 2024 following our 2025 reaccreditation application process. Successful accreditation will enable graduates to pursue nursing registration in Australia.

Qualification Requirements

Entry is based on Australian Year 12 equivalence, bachelor qualification in a health-related discipline, Diploma in Nursing, or you are a registered Enrolled Nurse (NMBA). English language requirements must also be met.

If you are an international applicant who wants to study on campus in Australia:

You will need to meet both the Academic and English Language Requirements to gain admission into this course. Meeting academic requirements means we review what you have already studied to see if you have the results needed for admission to your preferred course.

This course is offered under five admission rules, each with its own Course Structure (Program of Study).

Rule A: You must have completed, at minimum, an Australian Year 12 qualification or overseas equivalent.
If you are admitted on this basis, you will be eligible for admission under Rule A. Please see the Rule A Course Structure (Program of Study).

Rule B: You currently hold unrestricted Enrolled Nurse registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA).
If you are admitted on this basis, you will be eligible for admission under Rule B. Please see the Rule B Course Structure (Program of Study).

Rule C: You have completed a Bachelor qualification (AQF Level 7 or overseas equivalent) in a health-related discipline, and are not currently registered to practice as a nurse in Australia.
If you are admitted on this basis, you will be eligible for admission under Rule C. Please see the Rule C Course Structure (Program of Study).
Please note: If you are admitted under Rule C you must study on campus in Armidale or UNE Sydney, commencing in Trimester 2 or Trimester 3.

Rule D: You have completed a two-year full-time (or part-time equivalent) post-secondary overseas Diploma equivalent to the Diploma in Nursing (AQF Level 5), and be or have been registered, licensed or recognised in your own country as a registered or professional nurse during the past ten years.
If you are admitted on this basis, you will be eligible for admission under Rule D. Please see the Rule D Course Structure (Program of Study).
Please note: This pathway is only available to candidates from education providers with which UNE has signed a formal partnership agreement. if you are admitted under Rule D you must study on campus in Armidale, commencing in Trimester 3.

Rule E: You currently hold unrestricted Enrolled Nurse registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA).
If you are admitted on this basis, you will be eligible for admission under Rule E. Please see the Rule E Course Structure (Program of Study).
Please note: This pathway is only available to candidates from education providers with which UNE has signed a formal partnership agreement. If you are admitted under Rule E you must study on campus in UNE Sydney, commencing in Trimester 1.

Successful completion of an Australian Year 12 award with an ATAR acceptable to UNE in the year of admission (minimum scores for entry into each UNE course are available directly from UNE International), or
Successful completion of a recognised Foundation Studies program conducted by an Australian University or affiliate with a minimum score of 60% in all units including English.

an IELTS (Academic) overall score of 7.0 with no sub-band score less than 7.0, or
a minimum TOEFL Internet-Based Test (iBT) total score of 94 with a minimum score of 27 in the written component, and a minimum score of 24 in listening and reading, and a minimum score of 23 in speaking, or
