The Master of Music (Research) is an advanced academic program that enables students to explore their research capabilities, advance knowledge in current music practice and theory, and potentially achieve expertise in their chosen specialization. Earning this degree demonstrates the completion of significant independent research conducted under expert guidance within an academic research setting over a defined period. While Music Psychology, Music Therapy, and Musicology/Ethnomusicology require traditional theses, other disciplines may accept a portfolio of original compositions or a combined performance portfolio with an accompanying written component.
