Indigenous knowledge encompasses wisdom, discoveries, and traditions cultivated by Indigenous communities worldwide across many generations, often within cultures that maintain profound connections with their environments.

This knowledge finds application in numerous disciplines – from healthcare and wellness to schooling, progress initiatives, environmental stewardship, farming, legal systems, and creative expressions.

As Australia's inaugural program focused specifically on Indigenous knowledge as a distinct, multidisciplinary field, this initiative aims to acknowledge and utilize Indigenous wisdom, strengthen collaborative exchanges with Indigenous groups, and provide pathways for Indigenous scholars involved in research and higher education to pursue doctoral studies.
