The Screenwriting specialization caters to individuals with a passion and aptitude for crafting compelling stories tailored for audiences.
Australia's leading undergraduate program in screenwriting, the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Screenwriting) explores various aspects of the craft through lectures, workshops, film screenings, and hands-on activities. The curriculum includes: Scriptwriting for film and television
Creating content for younger audiences, Story adaptation, Game writing, Digital media production.
Students develop their unique creative voice while mastering industry-standard techniques for writing engaging screen narratives. Based in the VCA's Film and Television department, this program operates alongside degrees in directing and producing for live-action, animation, and documentary filmmaking.
During the final year, students collaborate to create an original web series, which is then produced by Film and Television students. After three years, graduates emerge with professional screenwriting capabilities, having mastered key creative and technical competencies including story development for various platforms, professional presentation techniques, constructive critique skills, and collaborative teamwork.
