The Bachelor of Fine Arts (Production) program develops exceptional designers, technicians, craftspeople, and production managers. At the Victorian College of the Arts, Production studies provide professional training and industry networks essential for diverse careers in live performance design, technical production, and management.
Beginning in studio settings and advancing to full-scale productions, you'll refine both conceptual abilities and technical expertise in your selected specialization areas throughout the program.
Production work is fundamentally collaborative, and during your studies you'll participate in creating major performances alongside Music Theatre, Theatre, Acting, and Dance students from throughout the VCA. Graduates leave with a comprehensive portfolio ready to launch careers in the Performing Arts. The program features instruction from faculty and mentors who are both industry experts and active professionals at the highest levels.
Future opportunities
After completing the degree, students may pursue a fourth-year Honours program. This intensive year of study allows mastery of your specialization and creates pathways to advanced graduate studies in production.

Graduates can pursue diverse roles across arts and entertainment sectors, including technical, design, or management positions for events, major festivals, and theatrical, dance, and musical productions.

English language requirements
TOEFL Internet-based test: total score of at least 79 and scores of 21 for writing, 18 for speaking, 13 for reading and 13 for listening; IELTS: total score of at least 6.5 in the Academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS), with no bands less than 6.0; Pearson Test of English Academic : overall score of at least 58 and no PTE communicative skills score below 50; Cambridge English, Advanced/Certificate in Advanced English (CAE): Cambridge English Score of at least 176 with no skill below 169; C2 Proficiency (previously called Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE) examination): Cambridge English Score of at least 180 with no skill below 180.
