Per the Australian Government's Job Outlook data, civil engineering experts are in significant demand, with many positions remaining unfilled. This substantial field is projected to experience robust growth, with approximately 28,000 employment opportunities anticipated in the coming five years.
Through this associate degree, you'll enhance your expertise in civil and structural engineering technologies. You'll acquire specialized competencies in structural drafting, municipal and environmental engineering modeling, project coordination, and cost estimation. Our skilled instructors will guide you in combining theoretical knowledge with practical application by developing and executing engineering projects that meet contemporary industry standards.
Graduates of this program will be qualified for infrastructure project roles as civil or structural engineering associates or technical consultants in various sectors including engineering firms, construction companies, mining operations, transportation organizations, and government agencies at local and state levels. This qualification also provides a foundation for pursuing higher-level studies.
Will have completed Year 12 (or equivalent) with a Sound Achievement in Maths (or equivalent).
Assumed Knowledge
Assumed knowledge explains the minimum level of knowledge we believe you have in some Units of Study before you start your Course. It is assumed that applicants will have the following:
English (4, SA) or English (Units 3 & 4, C)
Maths A, B or C (4, SA), or General Mathematics, Mathematical Methods or Specialist Mathematics (Units 3 & 4, C).
Applicants who do not meet the mathematics requirements will be interviewed and may be asked to complete a 20 hours intensive Maths Workshop with TAFE Queensland one week prior to the commencement of semester.
It is however recommended that in order to give yourself the best opportunity of success in this course, you have studied Mathematical Methods (Units 3 & 4, C), or equivalent. Alternatively, applicants may want to consider completion of a suitably qualified Maths course.
English Language Proficiency Standards:
PTE: 50 (min 50 each skill)
IELTS (Academic): 6.0 (Writing 6.0, all other skills no less than 5.5)
TOEFL iBT: 60 (13 reading, 12 listening, 18 speaking, 23 writing)
OET: pass at "C" level in each of four components
