The Master of Statistics and Operations Research program enhances your expertise in statistical and operations research methods. You'll gain both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience with modern techniques used by engineers, scientists, and professionals across various sectors including industry, research, consulting, education, and business.
This is accomplished through statistical software applications paired with comprehensive understanding of statistical methodologies. You'll develop specialized, innovative, and analytical skills for data interpretation, along with the capability to address diverse real-world challenges. The curriculum covers multiple analytics platforms such as R, SQL, SAS Enterprise Guide, SAS Enterprise Miner, Python, Java, CPLEX, Gurobi, and Arena.
The program features either an industry project or thesis component to strengthen your consulting and research abilities. Depending on your academic background, you may qualify for credit exemptions that could reduce your study duration by up to twelve months of full-time study.
Industry connections are maintained through the Industry Advisory Committee (IAC) and faculty-led consulting/research initiatives. IAC members contribute significantly to program development by sharing insights on industry trends, graduate competencies, cutting-edge software applications, specialization options, and particularly by advocating for work-integrated learning (WIL). WIL components appear throughout the program via guest lectures, industry collaborations, and potential internship opportunities when available.
