The Master of Statistics and Operations Research program enhances your expertise in statistical and operations research methods. You'll gain both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience with modern techniques used by engineers, scientists, and professionals across various fields including industry, research, consulting, education, and business.
This is accomplished through statistical software training combined with comprehensive understanding of statistical methodologies. You'll develop specialized, innovative, and analytical skills for data interpretation and examination. Additionally, you'll acquire problem-solving abilities applicable to diverse real-world scenarios. The curriculum covers numerous analytical tools such as R, SQL, SAS Enterprise Guide, SAS Enterprise Miner, Python, Java, CPLEX, Gurobi, and Arena.
The degree features either an industry project or thesis component to strengthen your consulting and research capabilities. Depending on your academic background, you may qualify for credit exemptions that could reduce your study duration by as much as one full-time year.
This program maintains strong industry connections via the Industry Advisory Committee (IAC) and through faculty-led consulting and research initiatives. IAC members contribute significant insights that shape program evolution, focusing on industry trends, graduate competencies, cutting-edge software implementation, specialization options, and particularly, work-integrated learning (WIL) support. WIL components appear throughout the program via guest lectures, industry projects, and potential student internships when opportunities arise.
