The Bachelor of Youth Work and Youth Studies delves into pressing social challenges impacting vulnerable young people, including housing insecurity, extremism, economic hardship, and psychological wellbeing. It promotes thoughtful analysis and discussion about youth in contexts of physical environments, digital spaces, cultural influences, faith traditions, family dynamics, and legal frameworks. This program seeks to analyze and cultivate settings where all young individuals can flourish while feeling empowered, supported, and secure.
This qualification incorporates practical experiences, internships, digital learning platforms, and community initiatives. Students participate in hands-on learning through field trips, collaborative sessions, and experiential workshops.
Through both solo and team presentations, learners cultivate abilities in public speaking, guiding conversations, and participating in substantive discussions. The curriculum involves examining real-world scenarios, research papers, scholarly publications, and other materials to thoroughly investigate specialists' contributions in this discipline. Visiting experts will share current, practical knowledge from professional practice. A fundamental element involves fieldwork placements, offering crucial practical exposure.
During the second year, students complete a 30-day industry-linked project, followed by a 30-day supervised placement in youth-focused organizations during the third year. These placements may occur in metropolitan, regional, or international settings. Instruction occurs through lectures, interactive sessions, small-group tutorials, and practitioner-led seminars.
