Cybersecurity involves implementing strategies, tools, and personnel to safeguard digital systems and data. As society grows more dependent on information technology, cyber threats have become a significant worldwide concern – resulting in approximately $1 trillion in annual losses. The Cyberspace, Policy and Security Major equips students with essential knowledge about modern security challenges, focusing on how criminal networks, terrorist groups, and nation-states attempt to take advantage of our technological dependence. This interdisciplinary program merges technical, security, and criminology courses to develop career-ready expertise in areas like intelligence, policy development, governance, digital investigations, and law enforcement. Students will examine IT infrastructure design and security measures, analyze key cybersecurity governance challenges, evaluate the responsibilities of public and private sectors in maintaining digital safety, and learn about cybercrime investigation and legal procedures.
