The phenomenon of terrorism, along with counterterrorism measures, has significantly influenced political landscapes worldwide during the 21st century. Through this program, you'll investigate the definition, historical development, and multifaceted origins of terrorism and political violence. You'll acquire expert understanding of diverse counterterrorism approaches, governmental policies, and security measures implemented to address these dangers. The program develops your analytical capabilities to assess environments where terrorism emerges and to scrutinize counterterrorism tactics. As the inaugural program of its kind in Western Australia, you'll leverage our established relationships with government and security sectors, learning from professionals with experience at institutions like the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Australian Defence College, United Nations, and various humanitarian organizations. Gain an edge in your professional journey by studying security challenges at both national and international levels, with particular focus on regions like the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and South Asia - areas where our faculty possesses specialized knowledge.
Applicants are required to complete secondary education (Year 12 or Australian equivalent) currently or within the last two years are eligible to apply. Entry requirements vary country by country.
Academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS): IELTS overall score of 6.5 with no band less than 6.0; Cambridge Advanced English (CAE): 176 overall with no band below 176; Pearson Test of English (PTE): 58 with no band below 58; Test of English as a Foreign Language - IBT (TOEFL IBT): 79 with no band less than 21; Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) (Written English Section): Written English Score 140
