Community engagement requires nuanced skills and a thoughtful approach. Effective practitioners blend wisdom, deep understanding of relationships, diplomatic finesse, and compassion. This work often calls for balancing rational thinking with empathy, emotional intelligence, and strong ethical principles. While some assume community work is instinctive, it actually requires significant learning - making skilled professionals highly sought after. Our program bridges this gap. Through this course, you'll examine contemporary community development models, explore successful strategies from experts, and engage in meaningful discussions. The Community Development major includes hands-on experience through community internships, helping you expand your skillset and understand global community dynamics.
