The Master of Philosophy (MPhil) is a research-based master's degree offered across the university. Within the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, students can pursue MPhil studies in the faculty's key research areas. Candidates will undertake a structured research program under the direct guidance of an academic supervisor. The supervisor works closely with the student to design the research plan and provides regular progress assessments. To complete the MPhil, candidates must submit a thesis that may incorporate published material relevant to their research focus, provided this work was produced during their enrollment and hasn't been submitted for any other degree at this or another institution.
Career prospects
Graduates will exhibit comprehensive knowledge of research methodologies in their discipline through literature review. They'll demonstrate the capacity to implement these research methods in their chosen field with supervisory support. Students will develop skills to produce publishable academic writing and critically assess scholarly work, both their own and others', within their specialization.
