The Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine is a five-year direct-entry medical program available to students immediately after high school. This degree equips you with the essential knowledge, clinical expertise, and hands-on training required to pursue a career in medicine. Monash School of Medicine is globally renowned for delivering an exceptional educational experience through its comprehensive, interdisciplinary approach to medical education. As the sole Victorian university offering both a Direct Entry program for high school graduates and a Graduate Entry pathway leading to the same qualification – the Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine (MD) – Monash provides flexible routes into the medical profession. Regardless of your entry path, you'll engage with a dynamic learning environment where cutting-edge research is translated into clinical practice. Students benefit from access to Australia's most extensive healthcare network, featuring institutions like Monash Medical Centre and The Alfred, Melbourne's premier trauma hospital. The program features an integrated curriculum organized around four key themes, delivered by faculty experts across diverse learning environments, from campus settings to clinical placements. For school-leavers, the initial two years focus on campus-based learning supplemented by urban and rural clinical experiences, while years three through five transition to immersive clinical training in hospitals and practices throughout Melbourne and regional Victoria. The final year includes specialized study options. During the MD's clinical phase, students enjoy the advantages of longitudinal education at one of Monash's clinical schools, enabling deep engagement with healthcare teams and opportunities to develop research initiatives that enhance patient care in real-world settings.
