This program involves conducting social work research, participating in research seminars, and submitting a thesis on an approved topic. Study areas encompass: social work practice, policy development, intellectual disabilities, gerontology, child and family services, healthcare, and mental health.
You'll develop expertise in theoretical frameworks and critical reflection, learn to analyze and integrate complex information across disciplines, generate and evaluate abstract concepts, and master research design and methodology.
Graduates will be equipped for professional roles in industry or academia, higher education positions, and may pursue doctoral studies as a next step.

Qualification Requirements
In order to apply for Master's by research candidature, you will normally require either:
a) the satisfactory completion of an Australian Bachelor's degree with an honours year with at least an H2A result in the relevant discipline,
b) qualification of La Trobe University or a recognised tertiary institution which is deemed by the Board of Graduate Research to be equivalent to the qualification specified in (a) above, ORry institution which is deemed by the Board of Graduate Research to be equivalent to the qualification specified in (a) above, OR
c) a Bachelor's degree without strengthened by additional qualifications or the demonstrated possession of research skills or publications of an especially meritorious nature, approved by the Board of Graduate Research as an acceptable basis for admission to candidature. Some additional preliminary studies may need to be undertaken.

TOEFL Internet based (iBT): Overall score of 79 with 13 in Reading, 12 in Listening, 18 in Speaking and 21 in Writing
