The curriculum begins with a foundational first year, followed by specialization in either primary or secondary education starting in Year 1 Trimester 3. The program includes hands-on professional practice involving school observations, teaching practicums, and community field studies. Graduates qualify for registration with the Queensland College of Teachers. The Early Childhood Major holds recognition from the Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority. Career opportunities include teaching positions across Queensland's independent, Catholic, and state school systems, as well as international opportunities that can progress to leadership roles like department head or principal. Alternatively, graduates may pursue diverse pathways such as: corporate or government training, outdoor education, adult literacy programs, library services, educational research, policy development, or consulting roles.
