Flinders' Master of Arts (Women's Studies) stands as Australia's sole graduate program in this field, equipping students with critical thinking skills regarding gender and its connections to sexuality, class, and racial diversity. This program fosters broader understanding and drives meaningful transformation.
It empowers voices to share impactful narratives and amplify their reach. Available both on-campus and digitally, Flinders' Women's Studies examines crucial gender-related societal frameworks. The curriculum investigates societal perceptions, historical gender-based structures, and the vital need to challenge conventional wisdom for a fairer, more equitable tomorrow. Students engage with feminist theory, various feminist movements, female empowerment, global rights, indigenous perspectives, and LGBTQIA+ topics - employing intersectional methods to deepen self-awareness and strengthen advocacy for diverse lived experiences.
Masters has two levels of entry into the program. A two-year, 72-unit program is available to applicants with an approved bachelor degree. The one-year program offers a 36-unit program to applicants who have completed one of the following: an honours degree in women’s/ gender studies, a four-year bachelor degree in women’s/gender studies, a Graduate Diploma in Gender and Development, or an approved equivalent.
