The Master of Counselling program, accredited by both the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) and the Australian Counselling Association (ACA), is designed to cultivate crucial clinical skills, encourage self-reflection, and establish a robust theoretical base for aspiring professional counsellors. This qualification blends modern counselling theories, research, and practical application within a Christian perspective and mental health context. It prepares counsellors to comprehend the personal, cultural, relational, psychological, social, and spiritual aspects of human experience; to practice with professional ethics; to appreciate individual, family, and community diversity; and to uphold the worth, capabilities, and welfare of every person.Professional placement
The program supports students in securing placements, requiring 100 hours of direct client interaction and 25 hours of clinical supervision, complemented by complimentary personal counselling sessions. These components align with PACFA's 2020 Training Standards for excellence.This course is ideal for:practicing counsellors pursuing advanced postgraduate training;
Graduates (or equivalent) looking to begin a counselling career;
Professionals aiming to expand their expertise or transition into counselling.
Educational Prerequisites
Applicants may be admitted to the Master of Counselling if they have previously successfully completed a relevant:
Bachelor’s degree or Bachelor Honours degree
‘Relevant’ means a degree that includes subjects such as psychology, social work and education where you studied human motivation and behaviour. “Non-relevant” means degrees that are science based (not including psychology), where you have not studied human motivation and behaviour.
Applicants with non-relevant degrees will be considered based on their Work and Life Experience.
