The WA Screen Academy specializes in teaching the techniques and artistry behind visual storytelling. Our program examines the worldwide landscape of screen production, covering ethical considerations, industry dynamics, career prospects, and professional hurdles for aspiring filmmakers.
Participants gain hands-on experience with VR technology and full-length film production, while working on professional-grade short films, documentaries, client commissions, and digital series.
Our institution boasts cutting-edge production and editing suites, complemented by extensive industry networks that enable us to bring in expert practitioners from across Australia as guest lecturers and mentors.
We maintain collaborative partnerships with the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, integrating their acting talent, musical composers, and design specialists in costume, sets, and audio production.
Students can specialize in various disciplines including production management, film direction, scriptwriting, camera operation, post-production editing, or audio engineering. Each pathway emphasizes career-ready skills development to prepare graduates for long-term success in the industry.
The WA Screen Academy holds membership in CILECT (International Association of Film and Television Schools), the global network of elite film education institutions.
Applicants who do not hold a Bachelor degree in a cognate discipline will need to provide evidence of equivalent prior learning which includes at 3 years industry experience.
Academic admission requirements (Band 8) may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:
Bachelor degree in a cognate discipline; or
Where accepted, equivalent prior learning, including at least five years relevant professional experience.
English competency requirements:
IELTS Academic: An overall band minimum score of 6.5, with no individual band less than 6.0.) (Results are typically valid for 2 years and online tests are not acceptable.)
TOEFL iBT: TOEFL iBT: 84 (with no score below 17)
TOEFL Paper-Based Test (PBT): Minimum score of 573, including Test of Written English of 5.0 or better. (Results are typically valid for only 2 years)
Pearson Test of English (PTE): PTE Academic 58, with no score less than 50 for postgraduate standard entry courses. (Results are typically valid for only 2 years)
