Concentrates on crafting performances from initial creative development to the final presentation for an audience.
This program provides students with hands-on experience in performance creation across various formats, including solo projects, collaborative ensembles, and site-specific productions, encompassing both text-driven and visually or physically oriented approaches. For their culminating project, students form small pre-professional groups to develop, research, rehearse, and stage original performances. Historical context courses enable students to gain insight into the foundations of contemporary performance, tracing its origins in traditional theater, dance, and live art. Special emphasis is placed on 20th-century advancements in performance practice, philosophy, and theory, and their influence on today's experimental performance scene.
