This research program culminates in a Master's by Research degree, catering to qualified physicians, surgical trainees, and fellowship-certified surgeons. The curriculum offers structured research training within surgical specialties while serving as specialized preparation for aspiring surgeons. Additionally, it includes optional clinical leadership development for future roles in surgical and medical leadership. Training combines online resources with in-person sessions at Waurn Ponds campus. While research coordination occurs at Waurn Ponds, most practical work takes place at students' workplaces, with cadaveric studies conducted at the School of Medicine's Anatomy Laboratory when required. Supervision involves both university academics and local workplace specialists.
To be considered for selection into this degree you are required to meet the following criteria:
completion of a bachelor degree in medicine
current registration (or capacity to obtain registration prior to commencing study) to practice medicine in the jurisdiction of study (e.g. registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Registration Agency; AHPRA)
English Language Requirements:
IELTS: Overall 7 No band less than 6.5
TOEFL IBT: 94 Writing 24
C1 ADVANCED and C2 PROFICIENCY: 185 No band less than 176
PTE: 65 No less than 58 in each skill
OET: Overall B (equivalent to a IELTS 7~7.5 range)
