As a Doctor of Philosophy - Engineering candidate, you'll work under the guidance of a seasoned, full-time faculty member from the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Built Environment who will serve as your primary research supervisor. Additional associate supervisors, either from within or outside the institution, will be assigned to support your principal advisor.
Depending on program requirements, you might need to fulfill specific attendance obligations and must submit a thesis presenting your research findings in your designated field of study. You'll have the opportunity to connect with potential supervisors to develop a suitable research proposal. The Doctor of Philosophy program typically spans two to four years of full-time or equivalent part-time study, with flexible options for either on-campus or online participation.
To be considered for selection into a Higher Degrees by Research (HDR) degree, you are required to have completed either:
a research project in a related area including a thesis which is equivalent to at least 25% of a year's full-time study at Level 8 or 9 of the Australian Qualifications Framework with achievement of a grade for the project equivalent to a Deakin grade of 70% or equivalent
a higher degree by research (HDR) in a related area
