The Master of Philosophy program is designed to extend your academic expertise beyond undergraduate honors or postgraduate diplomas, with a primary focus on producing a research thesis. After earning this research-based master's degree, you'll be eligible to apply for admission to a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program.
Unlike traditional postgraduate degrees, research higher degrees require that a minimum of two-thirds of your study involves independent research. While some coursework may be included, your principal work will consist of a thesis developed under the supervision of academic advisors. Examiners must judge your thesis to make a significant, original contribution to its field—whether through new discoveries, theoretical developments, or fresh interpretations of existing knowledge. Additionally, it should showcase your ability to independently plan, execute, and finalize research projects.
