The Master of Philosophy program is designed to extend academic understanding beyond undergraduate honors or postgraduate diploma qualifications, with a research thesis as its final outcome. After earning this research-based master's degree, you can pursue admission to a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program.
Unlike other postgraduate degrees, research-focused programs require at least two-thirds of the curriculum to involve investigative work. While some coursework may be included, the primary focus is on producing a thesis under the supervision of academic advisors. Examiners must judge this thesis to make a meaningful original contribution to its field—whether through new discoveries, theoretical advancements, or fresh interpretations of existing knowledge. Additionally, it should showcase your ability to independently plan, execute, and finalize research projects.
