This program is tailored for individuals from non-mining engineering backgrounds who aim to acquire specialized expertise in the mining sector, with a focus on mastering mining engineering techniques. It equips participants for various roles within the mining industry, spanning both operational and managerial positions in surface and underground operations. Those considering using this qualification for state-recognized mining certifications should verify its acceptance with the appropriate regulatory body before registering.
The curriculum empowers you to develop specialized competencies, especially in mining engineering approaches. You'll be prepared for both hands-on and leadership roles in surface and subsurface mining operations. Upon completion and with sufficient experience, graduates can pursue careers as underground or open-pit mining engineers, quarry supervisors, or other high-level management positions in the field.
You require a bachelor degree in applied geology or civil/geological/geotechnical engineering from a recognised institution. Some industrial experience is preferred. Candidates with a bachelor degree in surveying or mechanical/metallurgical engineering and relevant industrial experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
