This honors program allows you to deepen your expertise in selected scientific fields: applied geology, chemistry, computer science, environmental and agricultural studies, geographic information systems, mathematics, physics, or geophysics.
Building upon your undergraduate science foundation, this program advances your disciplinary knowledge in areas like applied geology, chemistry, computer science, environmental and agricultural sciences, geographic information systems, mathematics, physics, or geophysics. You'll explore research methodologies while refining analytical capabilities and creative thinking. The curriculum includes a guided research project culminating in an honors thesis presentation.
Participants will undertake an independent research initiative within agricultural and food science domains under faculty supervision, producing a comprehensive dissertation requiring preparation, submission, presentation, and defense. The program cultivates essential research competencies, technical proficiency, professional development, and communication abilities for biological investigations, coupled with specialized subject mastery through rigorous inquiry. Thesis completion encompasses scholarly literature evaluation, research problem identification, hypothesis development, methodological selection, ethical considerations, data collection and interpretation, and professional scientific writing to produce publication-quality work.
