This secondary education degree equips you for a fulfilling teaching career while allowing specialization in your chosen fields. The program cultivates essential expertise in contemporary educational practices tailored to modern students' requirements. You'll focus on one or two subject areas through coursework that combines specialized content knowledge with teaching methodology.
The curriculum includes foundational courses covering educational psychology, Indigenous education, and inclusive teaching strategies for diverse learners.
Throughout the program, you'll complete four intensive teaching placements in school settings, conducted in full-time blocks regardless of your enrollment pattern. Placement opportunities may include rural, interstate, or international locations.
The Biology Education specialization qualifies you to teach senior Biology (Years 11-12) and general Science (Years 7-12) curricula.
You'll develop skills to: Implement subject-specific knowledge and teaching principles for secondary education. Analyze educational theories and research to adapt instruction for students of all abilities and backgrounds. Evaluate student progress using multiple data sources to inform teaching decisions.
