This teacher training program equips you for a fulfilling profession in secondary education while allowing you to focus on specialized areas. You'll gain essential knowledge and skills in modern educational practices tailored for today's students. Choose to concentrate on one or two subject areas through coursework that combines specialized content with teaching methodologies.
The curriculum includes foundational courses covering educational psychology, Indigenous education, and inclusive teaching strategies for diverse learners.
As part of your studies, you'll complete four full-time teaching placements in schools, regardless of your enrollment mode. These may include opportunities in rural locations, other states, or international settings.
The Arts (Drama) Education specialization qualifies you to teach Drama for senior students (Years 11-12) and across all secondary Arts subjects (Years 7-12).
Throughout the program, you'll: Master subject-specific knowledge and teaching principles for secondary education. Analyze and integrate educational theories, research, and practical applications to support students of all backgrounds and abilities. Evaluate student progress using multiple data sources to make informed assessments. Design and implement impactful lesson plans. Utilize digital tools and resources to enhance instruction. Develop professional accountability by pursuing continuous learning and meeting literacy/numeracy standards for teacher accreditation.
