The Australian National University offers outstanding academic programs in evolutionary biology. Its Ecology, Evolution and Genetics research initiative spans a comprehensive spectrum, granting students exposure to diverse technical resources and intellectual viewpoints that foster cross-disciplinary studies. The program encompasses the entire scope of ecological studies (ranging from theoretical to practical and mathematical to observational), evolutionary science (from population genetics to life-history and behavioral trait evolution), and phylogenetic classification (including descriptive taxonomy and morphological/molecular data analysis).
While most faculty members are based in the Research School of Biology, significant expertise exists across the Centre for Resource and Environmental Studies and related ANU departments, as well as various CSIRO divisions. Our academic team brings extensive professional backgrounds spanning animal, plant, and microbial ecology and evolution; behavioral, physiological, and theoretical ecology; conservation science; molecular evolution; population genetics; plant and animal classification; information technology; environmental stewardship; geography; and prehistoric studies. Beyond Australia, faculty members have worked across multiple global regions including Europe, Africa, North America, and the Pacific.
