Cutting-edge, interdisciplinary research is essential for uncovering sustainable solutions. The Sustainability Studies program equips students with core knowledge and practical abilities to create research initiatives that tackle intricate environmental and sustainability challenges. It centers on foundational research and design-focused coursework, offering options in quantitative, qualitative, and spatial methodologies. These acquired skills are then expanded and implemented across various research-oriented and policy-focused classes. This is an experiential program featuring numerous built-in opportunities for small-scale research projects.
The major is designed to enhance subject-specific minors (such as Soil and Land Management, Climate Science and Policy, or Environmental Policy) by cultivating versatile research capabilities within the context of solving complex sustainability problems. Successful completion at the required level provides excellent preparation for fourth-year Honours and is ideal for students pursuing sustainability careers or advanced research degrees.
