BMus students typically pursue a major or minor in Performance. These programs help students enhance their abilities in comprehending, interpreting, and performing both solo and ensemble pieces. Participants can choose to focus on specific styles—such as classical, jazz, contemporary, or folk and world music—or blend multiple genres. Alongside classes, masterclasses, rehearsals, and workshops at the ANU School of Music, Performance students receive weekly one-on-one instrumental lessons with an instructor (or equivalent intensive external training or summer programs). Admission to Performance courses requires an audition.
Learning Outcomes
After completing the program, students will be able to:
apply specialized technical and analytical skills in musical performance; and
evaluate creative choices stemming from their practice-based research.
