The ANU Bachelor of Music cultivates exceptional musical talent by blending performance, composition, and technology. We view exploration as fundamental to both artistic innovation and achievement. Our program develops artistic skills by providing varied musical opportunities in a setting that promotes excellence, enthusiasm, and creative initiative.
Students gain a distinctive modern musical education encompassing classical, jazz, and contemporary performance, along with multimedia composition, audio engineering, and recording.
The program offers five specialization options: performance; film and video game composition; traditional composition; music technology; and musicology.
Learning Outcomes
grasp the methods, languages, structures, materials, technologies, and techniques across diverse musical styles;
develop expertise in one or more musical disciplines—performance, composition/arranging, sound design, musicology, or music technology—by applying specialized knowledge and technical abilities;
analyze and interpret musical concepts by examining relevant research while employing original, ethical, and independent thinking to address scholarly inquiries through written work or creative projects like performance or composition;
