The English program at ANU provides an extensive selection of courses that showcase the variety within English literary studies. Students can explore key areas of British literature from the late 1500s to modern times, covering periods like Early Modern, Restoration and 18th-Century, Romantic and Victorian, as well as Modern and Contemporary eras. The curriculum also includes studies in Australian, American, postcolonial, and global English literatures, alongside literary theory, cultural studies, drama, film, digital media, and creative writing. Introductory 1000-level courses familiarize students with core genres, writing styles, and critical analysis techniques, while 2000-3000 level classes allow for deeper exploration of specialized literary areas.
