The Bachelor of Arts honours program serves as both a bridge to postgraduate studies and the crowning achievement of undergraduate education. This intensive year can mark the completion of your formal learning while expanding your intellectual horizons, refining research capabilities, and enhancing analytical and communication skills. It also develops the personal and professional competencies required to successfully execute a research project. Ideal for undergraduates with a single major, honours study may also launch an academic career or professional research path. The program combines seminar participation with an independent research thesis, guided by a faculty expert in your chosen field.
The Arabic Language and Cultures honours curriculum includes two semester-long seminars and requires an 18,000-20,000 word thesis focused on a student-selected topic.
While seminars are conducted in English, they incorporate personalized advanced language instruction. Theses are written in English but must incorporate Arabic primary sources. Some projects may include fieldwork opportunities, significantly enriching the honours experience.
