Korean serves as the official language in both North and South Korea, with global Korean communities bringing the total number of speakers to over 80 million worldwide. The language features a distinctive writing system called Hangeul, created in the 15th century by King Sejong the Great. Renowned for its elegant design and accessibility, Hangeul is often celebrated as an exceptionally crafted script. At ANU, Korean language instruction emphasizes both practical communication skills and cultural literacy, enabling students to engage with Korea's rich literary, cinematic, and societal heritage.
