The Bachelor of Arts (Honours) program showcases ANU's dedication to research-focused learning. Expanding upon the Bachelor of Arts—ANU's most versatile, adaptable, and sought-after degree—it provides advanced training for professional careers or postgraduate research. This is achieved by deepening your understanding of research methodologies, theoretical frameworks, and disciplinary principles, along with completing a substantial research project (typically a 20,000-word thesis) that generates novel insights or addresses complex challenges. Students can pursue an Honours Specialisation in any BA major, and eligible candidates may combine two specialisations as Combined Honours.
Learning Outcomes
After completing the program, graduates will have the skills to:
formulate meaningful research questions within their field;
conduct investigations with creativity, critical analysis, ethical rigor, and independence, employing advanced theories and methodologies while situating their work within relevant academic traditions; and
effectively present their research and conclusions through appropriate formats.
