Learn to address various lower limb conditions and improve quality of life for individuals suffering from foot and leg pain, including those with chronic conditions, through our Bachelor of Podiatry (Honours) program. Combining theoretical knowledge with hands-on practice and clinical rotations, you'll master the ability to accurately diagnose, treat, and manage disorders affecting the feet, ankles, and lower limbs. Build foundational expertise in human anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, disease categories, and medical conditions. Acquire clinical skills in surgical procedures, pharmacology, medication administration, orthopaedic treatment, wound care, high-risk patient management, chronic condition care, sports injuries, musculoskeletal issues, and other specialized areas. Understand holistic, patient-focused care approaches while developing culturally sensitive methods for serving diverse populations. Gain practical experience in our cutting-edge manufacturing lab, utilizing professional-grade equipment to craft orthotics, casts, and custom insoles for various patient needs. Work directly with clients under licensed podiatrists' guidance at our on-campus clinics. Apply your skills across multiple healthcare environments – including private practices, public hospitals, community centers, and allied health facilities – through clinical placements beginning in your second year. Enhance your research capabilities and make meaningful contributions to podiatric science by completing a significant honors research project.
Admission criteria
To be eligible, an applicant must have achieved at least one of the following minimum entry requirements and demonstrate they fulfil any prerequisite and essential criteria for admission. In cases where there are more eligible applicants than available places, admission will be competitive with ranks based on the entry criteria.
Secondary education (Year 12)
Completion of a secondary education qualification equivalent to the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE).
Vocational Education and Training (VET)
Completion of an award from a registered training organisation (RTO) at Diploma (AQF level 5) or higher.
Higher education study
Successful completion of at least 6 months full-time study (or equivalent part-time) in a higher education award program in an undergraduate diploma (AQF level 5) or higher.
