As a YSU mathematics student, you'll explore diverse mathematical and statistical fields like data analytics, applied math, biomathematics, actuarial science, pure mathematics, statistics, and math education through coursework, internships, and research projects. These hands-on experiences frequently cross disciplines, applying mathematical principles to biology, physics, chemistry, economics, and medical fields. Past students have completed internships with prestigious organizations including the NSA, Oak Ridge National Lab, Nationwide Insurance, Medical Mutual of Ohio, and Homeland Security, while earning prestigious awards like Goldwater Scholarships and NSF Graduate Fellowships.
Applicants must have graduated from high school or have successfully completed the General Education Development (GED) test to be considered for admission. Freshman applicants applying for admission to Youngstown State University must submit a high school transcript and American College Test (ACT) or Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) scores.
