The quality of our environment significantly impacts human health, but factors like climate change, deteriorating air and water quality, and biodiversity decline make it increasingly difficult to forecast environmental effects on human health outcomes. Program participants gain the foundational knowledge required to tackle modern health and environmental issues while taking leadership roles locally, nationally, and globally. The MEM joint-degree program mandates 36 credit hours, a summer internship, and either a thesis or capstone project. Joint-degree candidates must also complete three weeks of technical skills training prior to starting at YSE, featuring practical August workshops covering plant identification, ecosystem management, land surveying, and urban ecosystem assessment. For additional details, consult YSE's Degree Programs section.
