Individuals who have earned a bachelor's degree or an equivalent qualification are eligible to enroll in this graduate program at the Yale School of Music. To obtain the Master of Music degree, candidates must complete two years of on-campus study, successfully pass at least 72 credit hours while maintaining a B average. Every curriculum within the School of Music mandates that students achieve no less than a B grade each semester in both their Major Instrument Instruction and Major Seminar courses. Those scoring below a B in either subject will face academic probation. M.M. degree seekers must perform a faculty-evaluated recital or equivalent demonstration during their second year. Satisfactory completion of all mandatory courses and skill assessments is necessary before the Master of Music degree is awarded. Students must maintain residency in the Greater New Haven area throughout their studies.
