The Department provides archaeological research laboratories and access to the Peabody Museum's extensive collections. Students receive training in field techniques and analytical methods, including ceramic and lithic studies, geophysical remote sensing, faunal analysis, archaeomagnetic dating, pXRF composition analysis, archaeometallurgy, satellite imagery interpretation, and GIS (Geographic Information Systems). Alongside the Anthropology Ph.D., faculty from Archaeological Studies participate in Yale's Master's Program in Archaeological Studies.
