At the Yale School of Music, percussion students engage with a diverse curriculum covering chamber, solo, and orchestral works through a uniquely comprehensive program. Weekly private instruction, studio seminars, and performances with the Yale Philharmonia and Yale Percussion Group form the core of their training. Through the New Music New Haven series, students regularly collaborate with composers to debut original pieces, building professional connections that extend beyond their Yale years. Graduates of the percussion program have established distinguished careers, performing with renowned groups like The Percussion Collective, Sō Percussion, and Sandbox Percussion, as well as orchestras including the Oslo Philharmonic. Many alumni now hold teaching positions at prestigious institutions such as the University of Miami's Frost School of Music, University of Maryland, and California Institute of the Arts.
