The Yale School of Music's trombone program provides students with comprehensive training, allowing them to hone their abilities, study diverse musical works spanning historical to contemporary styles, and engage in both small ensemble and full orchestra performances. Trombone players receive individualized instruction through private lessons while also attending group seminar sessions. Beyond solo performances, students actively contribute to chamber groups, a fundamental component of the Yale musical education. The curriculum includes participation in the Yale Cornetto and Sackbut Ensemble for historical performance practice, involvement with modern ensembles through New Music New Haven concerts, and regular performances with the prestigious Yale Philharmonia orchestra. These varied performance settings expose students to an extensive range of musical literature under the direction of renowned visiting conductors.
